Best friends
What if you already found the one? What if they’re perfect, what if they fit you and know you better than you know yourself? What if all your friends say that “You guys are perfect for each other. You obviously love each other.” What if that person is your absolute best friend? Has been with you through everything your twisted mind and scarred heart has ever gone through? Now, just think, if that one person, that one person, was, and could only ever be, your best friend. Just think of all the people you meet, all the possible romantic relationships you could have, but none of the participants are good enough. They are all inadequate. They don’t measure up. Not to her. She shines too bright, her brilliance blinds you to all others. But, you can’t love her like that. She is the perfect soulmate, but you just CAN’T love her like that, because your heart is fucked up and just doesn’t. It is of no fault of hers, or yours. You just can’t. Your standards are too high for anyone else, but you don’t, can’t, love her romantically. You are doomed to either be eternally alone, or eternally disappointed in any other being. Do you see how shot your chances are? But truthfully, it doesn’t matter. Because all you need is your best friend.
The fact that there’s over 7.2 billion people in the world and not even one of them is taking one for the team by dating me is extremely unacceptable.
